Whether performing for others, passing an exam, gaining a place in a competition or just enjoying making music at home, lessons provide the support, encouragement and second pair of ears to help you make that essential progress.
Francis is a highly experienced teacher and pianist. He has worked in Wellington and Hamilton schools (junior primary through to senior secondary) gaining excellent reputations for the superb quality of musical achievement. He is also a highly sought after accompanist who worked with singers of all ages and accompanied exams and recitals for a wide range of instrumentalists. Francis has performed in chamber ensembles and is very experienced as both conductor and keyboard player for opera and music theatre.
Francis is accompanist for the Hamilton Civic Choir, Garden Opera Company, Opera Brava and has been a regular coach at the New Zealand Opera School.
During 2013-2014 he was Director of Vocal Performance at St Paul's Collegiate School in Hamilton and at The University of Waikato as Nora Howell Trust Fellow- Music Performance Piano Accompanist, working with Voice Class chamber music and Performance Hour on Fridays and violin, woodwind and brass students on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
In 2015 we was appointed full time Piano Accompanist for the University of Waikato Conservatorium of Music.
For many years Francis has been working with students on an individual basis to teach musicianship, help develop vocal skills and improve piano and instrumental performance. Several students have gone on to University to study music inspired by this support and encouragement.
He is available for competition, exam and recital accompaniment in the Waikato, Auckland and Bay of Plenty regions.
